Progressive JPEG
In addition to the standard image formats, GIF, Interlaced GIF and JPEG, HexWeb XT is the first XTension in the world which can export images in Progressive JPEG format!Progressive JPEG is related to standard JPEG format with the difference, that the data is rearranged into a series of scans.
The advantage of Progressive JPEG is, that when you are loading the images over a slow communications link (as currently used by a large percentage of the on-line community), a decoder can generate a low-quality image quickly from the first scan and gradually improve the quality as more data is received.
This incremental display is a progressive JPEG's most appealing feature. Progressive JPEG files also tend to be smaller than sequential JPEG files.
Click here if you are OnLine, to see a Progressive JPEG image compared to other formats.
Note: You need either Netscape 2.0, Microsoft Internet Explorer or Spyglass Mosaic to view Progressive JPEG! In HexWeb XT you can define the default setting for image export format, and can also change the settings for each image individually.
